Build a connected route
Lexicairn works entirely offline. Every board contains at least one verified anchor route, and the route panel explains why any selected word is or is not accepted.
Trace a word
Tap or drag through horizontally, vertically, or diagonally adjacent stones. A stone cannot be used twice in one route. The selected route appears above the board with its validity state and score preview.
Bank and score
Bank an accepted word to add its tile, length, combo, morpheme, and rune points. The result remains visible in the local route history. Clear the route to begin another path without ending the expedition.
Open a different mode
Use the mode control in Delve for the Daily Dig, a challenge code, or an available expedition. Daily Dig is generated from the local date. Challenge and expedition codes reproduce their boards without a server.
Progress through expeditions
Expeditions lists all 12 authored routes with target score, minimum word length, focus word parts, and unlock state. Complete the available route's target to advance.
Read the score
Base tile value is shown separately from length, combo, morpheme, and rune bonuses. The Guide describes all six runes and the 29 curated Greek and Latin word parts used by the morpheme bonus.
Review or reset local data
Ledger shows local scores, longest word, streak, history, progress, and lexicon provenance. Guide contains haptic, sound, high-contrast, reduced-effects, and anchor-hint settings plus the local-data reset action.
Troubleshooting
A word is rejected
Read the route message. The route may be shorter than three letters, reuse a stone, contain a non-adjacent step, or be absent from the bundled lexicon.
A familiar word is missing
The bundled ESDB-derived list excludes proper names, abbreviations, marked offensive and vulgar entries, punctuation, special categories, and words outside 3-12 letters. A spelling-oriented list will not contain every specialist or regional term.
An expedition is locked
Complete the preceding available expedition at or above its target. Your progression is saved automatically in the local profile.
Sound or haptics are unavailable
Check the Lexicairn controls in Guide and the device's system sound and haptic settings. The game uses Apple system feedback and requests no microphone permission.
Lexicon source
The app uses 73,424 entries generated from English Speller Database release 2026.02.25. The Guide records the source, generation settings, entry count, checksum, and license location.
